The Eventbase mobile app platform provides white-labeled apps for top-tier festivals and conferences, with clients including the 2010, 2012, and 2014 Olympic Games, SXSW, Airbnb Open, and the Sundance Film Festival.
As UX Design Lead, I was responsible for the foundational UX/UI of both the mobile apps and the web-based CMS, including custom branded implementations.

Mobile Event App Platform
As the startup's first designer, I designed the core navigation models, features and screen layouts for the iOS, Android, Windows Phone, and BlackBerry apps. The product was designed to offer a high level of customisation to clients - for example, I created several variations of the schedule and event detail views, suitable for everything from single-day events to year-round programmes.
I worked hands-on with our delivery teams to customise the app's visual design and feature UX for clients, including international Fortune 500s.

Vancouver 2010 Olympic Games
For the iOS, BlackBerry and Windows Mobile apps, we focused on mobile use cases such as offline access and location-aware experiences. Providing a fully branded experience was a top priority and I worked closely with developers to customise the visual UI design, while adhering to each platform’s design guidelines. I also worked with sponsors to integrate surprise features like location-activated mascot videos, providing a memorable user experience to attendees.
This app won Best Mobile Application at the 2010 Canadian New Media Awards.

London 2012 Olympic Games
I was the lead iOS and Android designer for the official Join In app, collaborating with the Organising Committee and Dare digital agency from early requirements gathering and IA, through to final UI execution. Notable features included over 40 interactive venue and race maps, a real-time Torch tracker, and augmented reality integration.
Our team received the Best Consumer Mobile App at the Appster Awards.

South by Southwest
I worked with the event organisers on the official app for the 2011-2017 festivals. Every year our team added new features like AI-powered event discovery, login functionality, and a visually rich recommendation wall. To support the huge indoor conference venue and tradeshow, we also piloted Bluetooth indoor navigation and attendee check-ins.

Eventbase Manager CMS
The client-facing management tool is the core value proposition, reducing the overhead of publishing the app and enabling event managers to update features and content on the fly. I managed the design of the CMS, balancing the complexity of the back-end architecture and variety of configuration options with the intuitive UX for non-technical users.
