This small transport startup helps millions of commuters every day in 50+ cities—including London, Paris, and Singapore.
As the key Cities designer, my goal was to turn complex, aggregated transport data into a simple yet comprehensive experience for users.

Transport Information and Journey Planning
Every city has its unique transportation environment, and the app must accommodate a variety of scenarios in order to present detailed information in a clear UI.
I worked with city managers and engineers to understand the nuances of transport networks and journey planning, and ship scalable improvements to our journey planning flow, departure boards, disruption alerts, and route information pages.
→ Designed scalable information architecture patterns for 50+ cities.
City Launches and Localisation
I was the key designer in expanding Citymapper to Vienna, Monaco, Switzerland, the Netherlands and dozens of US cities. A typical launch project begins with research on commute patterns and transport mode usage in order to adapt our app features and journey planning results. I also designed custom assets, and produced launch marketing content. When Citymapper expanded into the US, I defined production design workflows that improved our launch cadence.
→ Scaled design from 1 to 15 city launches per month.
Step-Free Journey Planning
Together with a user researcher, city managers and key data engineers, we spoke to advocacy groups and travellers with wheelchairs, prams and physical mobility requirements to understand their travel needs. At the same time, we developed a new routing model that integrated bus stop infrastructure and station facilities.
I redesigned our journey results and routing screens to show users which journeys avoid steps and have wheelchair-accessible facilities.
→ Launched in London, Paris and New York City.
Siri Voice Commands
Working with Apple ahead of the iOS 12 launch, Citymapper was among the first group of apps to support Siri Shortcuts. I paired with a senior developer to design voice-activated features around key commuter use cases, like warning about delays, and announcing bus arrival times. I composed the script for Siri to accommodate localisations and a variety of timetable formats, and coordinated the translation and testing efforts.
→ Coordinated launch support for 8 languages.
New Mobility Integrations
Citymapper began incorporating private transport providers (such as cabs, ride hailing, carshare, and micro mobility) alongside our public transport journey planning. I was the key designer responsible for integrating partners including Zipcar, Lime, Bird, car2go, and dozens of local operators, and redesigning core flows in the app to accommodate these new varieties of travel options.
→ Launched in 20+ cities.
